Curzon Midnight Movies Feb 19th - Death Wish 3 presented by Edgar Wright

For those jonesing for more Wright Stuff presentations, I offer you a temporary and quite awesome salve.

I haven’t been able to schedule anymore double bills at the Prince Charles due to my quite insane schedule and print availability in the UK of some of my favourite cult items, but…

The good folks at Curzon Soho have asked me to do one of their Midnight Movies so I would like to cordially invite you to a Michael Winner classic.

DEATH WISH 3!

Fri 19 Feb 11:30pm | Curzon Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Avenue W1D 5DY 0871 703 3988 More details on their site.

Now, it’s easy to rag on Michael Winner, but there’s more than a couple of his films that I would applaud. ‘The Mechanic’ is a great 70’s thriller, the original ‘Death Wish’ is strong stuff and my beloved ‘The Sentinel’ is just insane.

But ‘Death Wish 3’ is…is…something else.

Come along on Feb 19th and witness the majesty of this 1985 epic.

It is shot in London doubling for New York…

It features a mail order rocket launcher…

It is the quintessential Cannon Film…

It is DEATH WISH 3. See you there.

  • THE SYSTEM, THE JOKERS, and I'LL NEVER FORGET WHATISNAME were also quite good (Oliver Reed's drinking problems blinded a lot of people to the fact that he was a very talented actor)- Winner also did a good film of Alan Aykborn's A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL.

  • http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=284618… woo! public spaced fake gunfight re-enactment!

  • mrbobtherubbberrat

Like it cant make it though, saw it on original release in my local cannon cinema.
My all time best Michael Winner film just has to be “HANNIBAL BROOKS”.
Love to see that at a screening the audience could do the sing-a-long with the bouncing ball at the end lol

Whoa, massive brain-fart on my last post…February 19 is not Bronson's birthday. It is, however, Lee Marvin's and Benicio Del Toro's, two other movie tough guys.

  • Slick

Isn't that on Bronson's birthday? DW3 might be my fave DW flick. Should be a great night.

  • We love you in America Edgar…more specifically in Pennsylvania…even more specifically in West Chester where we would love a screening of Death Wish 1-6 or the Sentinel! The lezzie scene in that is, I'd argue, even freakier than the 100 Scariest movie moments moment of the father behind the door, which is completely insane but it's like when you ask someone who your favorite Simpsons character is…it's assumed 'other than Homer'. Oh and if you're bored (ha!) you can watch fun movies if you click my name! Hu-zZAH!

If only I lived near London…

  • SarahAC

    Eyyy! A nearly-Wright-Stuff.
    Sounds like fun. Enjoy!

  • 'Death Wish 3' is called 'Super Magnum' in Japan!

  • Sarah5636

As it's a midnight screening will have to give this a miss, i'm gutted, i've never seen Death Wish 3. Keeping my fingers crossed that you do another double bill, it's always worth it making the 4hr round trip to London for your Wright Stuff screenings 🙂
Anyway hope your over your jetlag soon Ed.

  • I want that DW3 poster!!!!

Great movie. So many awesome quotes.

    “He killed The Giggler, man!”

“He killed The Giggler, man. He killed the Giggler!”

  • I wish there was a theater like this where I lived. If ts not a Spider-man or Transformer movie its not getting show in my town.

  • AmberGrindstaff

    Ah DW3 🙂
