‘Shaun of the Dead’ Photo-a-day / Shoot Day 14 / May 26th, 2003

Shaun of the Dead Photo-a-day / May 26th, 2003

Another day in New Barnet filming the Jag scene. There are not a lot of photos for a good reason. Nearly all of our day was shot on the low loader, the trailer on which you shoot moving car shots.

We had two cameras shooting the many angles of the scene in the Jaguar with six people. It was tough and cramped. A whole day of watching a tiny monitor on the back of the towing vehicle will make you car sick beyond your wildest dreams.

I remember not being able to walk straight after an entire day on the back of that low loader. But I am happy with the final scene.

Quit be a whiny puss. “Ugh, I had to spend all day filming a movie”. You sure have a tough life…

I fully accept that these are high class problems to have. I will try not be a whiny puss in the future, Miss Coyne.

Describing something as tough and cramped is describing the day. And yes you might see it as just ‘filming a movie’ except when you have a lot of money riding on it, I suspect you’d think different in that position.
Just because the overall film looked fun, doesn’t always mean it was a fucking easy job.
Whilst there are far more challenging jobs out there, does not negate the fact that this particular day was remembered for being tough and cramped. It was a simple comment describing the conditions.

Now I need to go find my sense of humour.

Ohhh I feel carsick just hearing about it! It gave you an awesome “Don’t Mess With Me” Director-Face though ;)
