Reminds me of the olden days.

  8. joel vallie says:

  9. Eric says:

    Hehehe, swingers…

    And Wallace and Gromit FTW.

  10. Sarah says:

It’s not Honest Ed’s. The signs aren’t right.

But I’m soooooo waiting for some Honest Ed’s.

    Sooooo great.

    • Edgar Wright says:

      Don’t hold your breath.

But if you are disappointed that it may not be in the movie, I will personally take you there and buy you a spray painted bust of Elvis and some overpriced kitchen utensils.

      That’s my promise.

      • SarahAC says:

Sounds awesome! I’m coming too. Do you think I could get a melon baller?

      • Mike says:

Can anybody else get in on that?

Seriously though, I’ve made my peace with the whole “things have to be cut” business with the news that there’s no room for Lisa Miller in the film.

Not that it matters anyway; I have faith that it’s going to be pretty damn sweet.

  11. Slick says:

I was just watching KUNG POW at my bro’s house over the weekend! Hilarious!

  12. Nicole says:

    Oh lovely, lovely Goodwill!

  13. dolfyn says:

Awesome! I like old-school mediums. I’ve still got lots of videos in my collection.
    ;o)

    Feel the love.
    dolfyn.
    :oD

  14. Alec says:

wow seeing that Beethoven vhs tape brings back memories

  15. Michelle in Arkansas says:

    We LOVE Goodwill!

  16. Michelle says:

BEETHOVEN FOR THE WIN. I have that on VHS, too. I wore it out so much as a kid that we had to buy another copy. Though it’s got some stiff competition for best animal-oriented movie of the 90s.
Air Bud, Homeward Bound, Babe, and the timeless Dunston Checks In.

  17. Methinks this could possibly be Ms. Pine’s place of employment!

  18. Declan says:

Just a heads up for everyone waiting for the Honest Ed’s scene: word is it’s not in the movie. Logistical nightmare trying to set it up and shoot in there (which, for anyone who’s been in there, is that really a surprise?). That’s according to O’Malley at the Calgary Con a few weeks ago.

  19. Val says:

Kung Pow’s worth twice that. What a gem.

    • A.J. says:

LOL my uncle plays “Betty” in Kung pow (seriously not joking), its a pretty stupid movie that i’ve seen way too many times,

ps. Edgar if you ever want a bad guy in ur movie call my uncle! or if you ever want to mentor a young director call me!!

  20. Marko says:

He couldn’t find a copy of Land Before Time IV?

  21. juventus says:

Great selection of VHS!!! my favorite 2001: space odyssey:):)

  22. Nephie says:

That kid is adorable, no doubt.

  23. Oysters says:

“But if you are disappointed that it may not be in the movie, I will personally take you there and buy you a spray painted bust of Elvis and some overpriced kitchen utensils.

    That’s my promise.”

I hope you know that’s legally binding. It might not seem like it, being a comment on an internet blog, but it is. By magic.

  24. dayuse says:

Are those films sorted in any way?

  25. An excellent selection, hope they work.

  26. Cordelia says:

    Yay for videos!

I’m actually watching ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ right now which is strange (sadly I’ve got it on DVD though not beloved VHS)

Could you please tell Michael that I’m really looking forward to ‘Paper Heart’ this summer?

Well, you don’t HAVE to tell him, obviously, but it looks so adorable and I canne wait to see ‘t! Even if the premise is confusing as hell. I only heard about it last night and I’ve quickly become obsessed. Not that there’s a lot to feed my obsession on the internet at the moment. I guess I’ll just have to wait for August….

  27. No Honest Ed’s? But it is so wonderfully, achingly horrible! Where are you going to find somewhere else so horrible?

  28. And, ahem, I mean horrible in a great way.

  29. pieface says:

how long did you search for a film so that you could place the word ‘POW’ by Cera?!
    sneaky!

  30. chuckles says:

So the rumors about animated fight scenes are true! I fully believe Aardman animation is up to the task!

  31. Matty says:

    Dude. $2.99 for VHS is a rip-off.

  32. Codey says:

It would be ace if your techies would include pictures embedded IN your rss feed, are you trying to force users to view your actual site for some reason?

Great blog! Thanks for the films!

  33. bikeroo says:

I still can’t believe you guys are filming Scott Pilgrim vs. the World! Not only are you working with one of the coolest graphic novels I’ve read but you’re also trying to be as accurate as possible with the scenes; from Casa Loma, to the Goodwill on St. Clair, heck even my old high school. I live in the neighbourhood so everyday I pass by the filming on my commute and I keep hoping I’ll catch a glimpse of you folks filming something awesome. Keep up the awesome work and I can’t wait to see this finished!

P.S. Kudos to the guy who sprays the snow for the sets, he did a stellar job on the Baldwin Steps a few weeks ago!

  34. shane says:

    i love swingers

  35. angle says:

Hooray for charity shops and cheap vids.
I picked up 2 Bond films (Thunderball and Dr No) The Doors in Europe
and Summer of Sam (great movie!!!!) for £1 the other day, 25p each if you bought 4
    I love charity shopping.

  36. Sarah5636 says:

That’s a cool bunch of movies the Wallace & Gromit & Beethoven vids bring back memories, think i’ll stick to 2001 Space Odyssey on Blu-ray ;)

  39. Anthonius says:

It’s totally the scene where Scott and Knives go to Goodwill. Coz most of the stuff there is bad…but not in a hilarious way. Also, dammit Wright when are we going to get confirmation of Schwartzman as Gideon!? Validate me!

  40. Teeta says:

hahaha, YES. Kung-pow! That is the onomonapia (and movie) that means a good time.
    Wallace & Gromit = classic

Hey - Thanks to you and your crew! I live in the apt right next to that Goodwill and it has never looked as clean as it did during your shoot - can you guys stay there forever?!!!!
Alas, days later it has reverted to its former state……
Looking forward to seeing the finished film!
(am also an Actra member that would love to be IN your finished film……..)
