My favorite example of a movie adapting a song from a book was “Baby Can You Dig Yo Man” from The Stand. It was this runaway hit in the book, and I was really curious about how they could convert it into a catchy song that could conceivably be a hit for the movie. I guess they couldn’t though, since the mini-series seemed afraid to play any more than four seconds of the song at a time.
Wallace Wells’ heckling of Crash and the Boys in the first book is gold, by the way - I really hope that’s incorporated into the movie.
ho-ly shit. it’s the effing rockit.
this is a blast from the past.
i assumed you’d have to have a different location, what with the it having closed some years ago.
Loving todays photos, that looks like a cool venue i love places like this when going to gigs, especially if there’s a balcony that’s always a bonus for a small bod like myself
I can see Michael Cera in the first one
Who is the other pic of? A tribute band for the Monkees?
Is this a real venue in Toronto? It looks pretty cool.
It’s the Rockit, a real venue. I used to go there a lot around 6 years ago or so, but I’m not sure if they still do shows there anymore.
It closed down about 3 or 4 years ago, now it’s some bar.
crash and the boys?
The first pic makes me want to yell, “One, two, three, FOUR!”
hahaha! Exactly what I was thinking!
;oD
Feel the love.
)
dolfyn.
Yep, totally did that.
I spy Ramona…….
With that blaring pink head of hers, it’s not exactly a hard find.

A Gig!
Love it E!

I would kill to be a extra for this.
You have to have a “hip/indie look”…and live in Toronto. (My friend is an extra)
CHRIS MURPHY!!!
You take some awesome pics!!
Trasha!!!
So riddled with ADD it’s not funny…
this one’s for the guy in the balcony and it’s called we hate you please die.
god, this scene is gonna kill on screen if it’s left more or less intact.
Luke Wilson?
lol
” the next song is…LAST SONG KILLS AUDIENCE.”
“So much A.D.D. its not even funny.” please let this line be in the movie.
Ew, Thunderbird bass.
Get the Rickenbackers back on.
“Baby, I was born to destroy you!”
Loving the pics.
Wait, is that Boy a girl?
I love the way this is looking.

It cant be easy turning songs from a comic book into real songs on screen, respect to whoever you have writing the tunes.
Maybe you could get Pegg in to write some drum parts, would be fun to see him pop up in the blog photos lurking behind a drum kit.

Aah, very cool, you could have hit the nail on the head there Keith, im so myopic i didnt even spot the Morello.
That guy on lead guitar looks like Kevin Barnes from Of Montreal.
ho-ly shit. it’s the effing rockit.

The Boys? And Crash?
Front row!!!
Loving todays photos, that looks like a cool venue i love places like this when going to gigs, especially if there’s a balcony that’s always a bonus for a small bod like myself
That first pic rocks.
It’s Not a Race Guys!!
So is that the little asian girl from Crash and the boys?
“Is that girl a boy, too?”
“Yes!!”
That exchange had better be in the movie, or Edgar Wright would need to make up for it with another comedy with Simon Pegg.
It is.
On that count, I will not let you down.
