Ha! I love the juxtaposition of a flick about people with lots of hair along with… well… you know. Robert Williams needs to get the Crumb treatment. Though he’s probably not as interesting to document on a day to day basis, he did once say “The unicycle is the ultimate attention getter.”

Hey Edgar, First time i’ve replied to your blog but i’ve read it since January. I just wanted to tell you about this awesome band who I listen to whenever I read Scott Pilgrim. They’re called Los Campesinos! Some of their songs go really well with the book and might do with the film. Guess I should have wrote this before you finished the film but what the hell! Check em out anyway if you have any spare time.

Keep on making awesome films dude.

Crumb is fantastic, do you like it? I also enjoy American Splendor quite a bit.

My list of movies to watch and re-watch really is going to be neverending after this week (watch The Naked Kiss, rewatch Shampoo).

But that’s okay, I trust your judgement on these things and I like looking up movies that I’ve never heard of. Thanks for the ideas!

That’s nearly a criterion a day Edgar. I’ve got Crumb at home too which I found for about $5. Too bad Criterion has never released Crumb. They could’ve included that comic Crumb drew after the film was released to express his discontent with the documentary.

yay! finally a film I can say I’ve seen!
got CRUMB out from the library last year, had heard various people talk about him (and keep seeing ‘The lighter side of Crumb’ in london second hand bookshops).
was great but incredibly sad. (about his brother)

i’ll admit i had him muddled up and thought he was the guy who writes the Crumbletinies. (which are sick but i love them, well, the alphabet one anyway, thats the only one i’ve really read)

    ps. get outside man!

I keep waiting for you to post a pic of just one flick I know and love, but alas. I am a terrible film geek! I’ve got such a loooooong way to go. But it’ll be one hell of a ride.

Warren Beatty’s character in Shampoo = one of the great movie lotharios. He’s just so sad at it. And how ’bout that super young, mega adorable Carrie Fisher?

Are you going to watch Fritz the Cat?

I forgot that Lynch produced Crumb. An awesome Doc.

Edgar, are you a fan of Lynch? Do you have a favorite film of his?

Although I am a fan of his more tame linear stories, I also love his rather expirimental.

Are you slowly replacing your DVD collection with Blu-ray yet? I know most of these titles are far from getting a Blu-ray release but how about some other titles. I know 2 Titles I have to upgrade to Blu-ray on September 22 maybe you’ve heard of them.

You’ve been on Samuel Fuller diet of late. Did you get to the New Beverly last night for the Fuller double feature?

Also, any thoughts on the new Cribs, Handsome Furs, and Jaime T albums? If you haven’t yet, pick up the School of Seven Bells album or the Phenomenal Handclap Band’s album . Both solid debuts.

Almost forgot, the XX album is quite impressive as well.

We got the chance to see some of Crumb’s original art when we were at the MoMA last month, it was really neat. I’ve had a minor fascination with him ever since I saw an old documentary on underground comics, and since I noticed the local used music/movie store has his strips plastered all over their walls.

I don’t quite remember. But Crumb is about R. Crumb (obviously) while American Splendor is about Harvey Pekar, so that distinction should prolly clear things up.
