Quite simply, this is the best audition tape ever. I give you the 8 year old Abigail Chu as Trasha.
It’s worth pointing out that Abigail learnt the drums just for the audition. And of course, she got the job. I think the bird sealed it.
More fun like this on the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ BluRay / DVD out in just two weeks in US/CAN.

Like the title says, here’s some of the art that I got Bryan to do at gunpoint during the production of the film. Enjoy.
the scribble
I did four or five versions of the scribble, some of which looked more like Ramona and some more like a scribble. This one is satisfyingly abstract.
There’s no hard copy original. Also there is no word hidden in her hair. It is literally a scribble; I scribbled it. On my wacom tablet.
The screenplay at that time simply said “Scott sketches a drawing of Ramona” and I believe the comically incomprehensible scribble was my suggestion.
Mighty Fine has this on a grey t-shirt here.
shirts
Some t-shirt designs. “Honey Dear” and “Brown Bear” were my old bands. I don’t think they showed up in the movie, nor did my (legit!) Napster drawing.
Air quotes shirt (mens) here.

Bird shirt here.
If you want the Punisher-esque shirt, you’ll have to fight Brandon Routh for it
girl number
I don’t remember which one was used in the final production, but here’s one of the versions of Ramona’s phone number. I didn’t make up the number, it was just given to me by the clearance dept. Drawn with a real sharpie on actual paper but I think I threw out the originals (they smelled like sharpie).
star mug
I don’t remember which one was in the film, but for whatever reason I was asked to do designs for the mugs in Ramona’s apartment (when they drink tea). The star is Ramona’s symbol and the X is for the exes.

Back in July 2010, Indaba Music ran a competition to remix a score track from ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs The World’, here’s what they said back then.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is one of the hottest films of the year and now is your chance to get involved. Scott must battle seven evil exes to win the woman of his dreams. Celebrated producer and composer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead’s producer!) has created the original fight score for Scott.
Using as many or as few of the sounds and dialogue audio as you want, remix your own version of the fight theme for Scott. The winners will be selected by the director, Edgar Wright, and will receive an outstanding prize package worth thousands of dollars in gear!
Then this week, I picked from thousands of amazing remixes, the following three winners.
The Judges have spoken:
I am overwhelmed by the remixes for ‘FIGHT!’ on this site. The mixes by all the finalists were extraordinary. It was very hard to judge I have to say. So I am going to give a gold, silver and bronze to John Faustus, Yasu. Y and Suraj Sreedharan. But I am also going to raise a glass to my honorable mentions- all of you did amazing work.
LEVEL UP to you all. 7,000,000,000,000 PTS.
Edgar Wright
Winners
You can find my ten equally amazing honourable mentions, more remixes and the remixers profiles at Indaba Music‘s Scott Pilgrim page here.
By popular demand the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles have added two more midnight screenings of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World on Nov 12th and 13th.
They should be fun shows, as I will be there along with the amazing Doug Benson, lots of fun giveaways and perhaps more guests still.
November 12th is already sold out with only the standby line on the night for more tickets.
November 13th is on sale now. Buy your tickets here!

Disclaimer: This is not an official Blu-Ray case. Although you may wish it was.
This fan made design comes courtesy of Adam Lowe. Enjoy.
From dudeimbibes;
With the eventual release of Scott Pilgrim to Blu-Ray, I put together a throwback NES style box and cartridge/disc holder. I had originally intended to just turn the NES Cart into a hinged case, but as it turns out, standard sized discs don’t fit in NES carts. So I modded the cart to just attach a disc holder to the back. The Blu-Ray case is in there for comparison.
I only met Sally Menke a few times.
The last time was at the Scott Pilgrim premiere where she came to find me at the after party just to tell me how much she loved and was impressed by the editing. As she was the editor of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and many more, there was no higher compliment she could give. I tried to find my editors Paul Machliss and Jonathan Amos so she could give her praise to them first hand. I couldn’t see them, but I told her that her comments would make their year. It did.
So that, very sadly, was the last time I saw her. It meant a lot to me on the night that she came to find me and it means so much more now.
Anyone who had seen Sally’s work with Quentin Tarantino knows what an incredible editor and artist she was. Like many aspiring film-makers who saw Reservoir Dogs on initial release, it was an invigorating, life changing experience for me. I saw it on the opening Friday at the UCI Tower Park multiplex in Poole while I was at art college. I was driving and there were so many student friends of mine that wanted to go that I had a illegal amount of people in the backseat as we head down to the cinema. It was a watermark film for many.
Another time I remember specifically being so thrilled that it made me happy to be in the film business was the UK premiere of ‘Kill Bill: Vol 1′, which I attended before I had actually met Quentin Tarantino.
I went to the screening at the Empire Leicester Square with Chris Dickens, my editor on ‘Shaun Of The Dead’ who later went on to win an Oscar for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. In fact, we had come straight to the premiere from our edit suite. We were both so thrilled with the film and especially the House Of Blue Leaves sequence, that it made us excited to get back into the work the next day and be cutting our own film.
I got a chance to tell Sally about that excited night of inspiration when we talked that last time . I hope I managed to impress upon her what her work meant to me and the editors that I’ve worked with.
I will wrap up this short tribute with a couple of clips that show how well loved she was by all.
Famously Quentin Tarantino would ask the cast to say ‘Hello Sally’ on the rushes to amuse her back in the cutting room. So here, see the ‘Hello Sally’ montages from ‘Death Proof’ and ‘Inglourious Basterds’. In the former clip, you can see a short interview that shows just how much she meant to Quentin as a collaborator and as a friend.
She will be missed.
Goodbye Sally.
For all you budding Sex Bob-Ombs, here’s bass and drum tutorials from the man who played those parts on the soundtrack himself and helped coached the actors for the movie.
I give you the amazing BrianLe Barton.
Hey nice to meet you I’m Brian LeBarton. I made these videos a couple years ago to help teach Alison Pill and Michael Cera how to play the drum and bass parts for Sex Bob-Omb since I played them on the recordings for the movie score and soundtrack.
Since Beck and I did these in one take, the parts are improvised and I could never actually re-learn what I played. I’m really impressed with all the other videos I’ve seen of people covering the songs but in case anyone wants any help, here ya’ go!
What I mostly learned from these videos is what a horrible “drumming” face I have! I really shouldn’t be posting these, I look so confused and uncomfortable. But I must face the music. Bash away.

Thanks to Brian for digging out those out. Now, if only we can find the guitar tutorial videos that were made for Mark Webber. Stay tuned.
Also the great Mr. LeBarton does a great weekly 1-hour music show for the public radio station in Marfa, TX. Tune in live at 8pm PST every Friday night. You should check it out here.

Myself and the team worked around the clock on these extras, so I hope you appreciate them when the Blu Ray / DVD hits the streets in North America on November 9th.
A lot of tender loving care went into hours and hours of behind the scenes goodies, which show just how much work went into this film in the last few years.
I do hope you enjoy what we’ve put together.
So let’s have a look at what’s on the Blu Ray and DVD shall we? Right after one of our many production stills, this one from Young Neil himself, Johnny Simmons.

SYNOPSIS
Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-Omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.
