Another day in Highgate West Hill shooting the scene where Shaun comes to rescue Liz.

This was day six of a six day week and you can see the cast are pretty exhausted. I think this shot of the ‘have a cup of tea’ montage was done at the end of the day. And everyone is knackered!

Six day weeks are not always popular with crews and I do remember on this day that DP and operator David Dunlap was singing ‘I got those six day blues.’

But also on this very day he also wrapped up with a particularly excellent whip pan onto a close up of Shaun’s mug. Not an easy shot to pull off. Most people fake them by shooting them backwards, but he was bang on every time. I actually hired David because he was the operator on two of my all time faves - ‘Raising Arizona’ and ‘Goodfellas’.       It’s sometimes used as a scene transition device. The camera will pan really fast and cut to another scene.
