Around here at AMC, we’re HUGE Edgar Wright fans. He’s one of the most original, innovative directors to come around in a long time and on August 22nd we’re giving you a chance to see his CORNETTO TRILOGY with SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ and THE WORLD’S END!
So what’s a Cornetto? Wikipedia said it best, so we’re going to quote them:
Each film in the trilogy is connected to a Cornetto ice cream, featuring scenes in which one of the main characters purchases a Cornetto of the appropriate flavour. Shaun of the Dead features a red strawberry flavoured Cornetto, which signifies the film’s bloody and gory elements, Hot Fuzz includes the blue original Cornetto, to signify the police element to the film, and The World’s End features the green mint choc-chip flavour in a nod to aliens and science fiction.
And here’s what a Cornetto looks like.Yum! We’ll take 10!Alright, let’s get to what you’re in store for on Aug 22nd!The trilogy will be playing at 29 AMCs around the country and the list is below. We start with SHAUN OF THE DEAD at 5:30PM local time, followed by HOT FUZZ AT 7:35PM, leading into THE WORLD’S END at 10PM. Tickets for the event are going on sale today at AMC locations andonline here.A few other details:· AMC Stubs members will receive $5 bonus bucks to use the day of the event· Each guest will receive an AMC exclusive Cornetto Trilogy t-shirt.· Each guest will receive a commemorative lanyardOne more thing, when you’re at the trilogy make sure to tag all of your posts with #AMCCornetto and we’ll share our favorites!See you at the movies!Participating AMC Theatres locationsBostonAMC Boston Common 19ChicagoAMC River East 21CincinnatiAMC Newport Levee 20Columbus, OHAMC Lennox Town Center 24Dallas-Ft. Edgar Wright’s newest work of comedic genius,THE WORLD’S END, hits theaters August 23rd. This is Wright’s third feature starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. With its release, the “Blood and Ice Cream” trilogy is complete. Wright and Pegg dubbed it the “Blood and Ice Cream” trilogy (also known as the “Three Flavours Cornetto” trilogy) because each film features a double scoop of blood and ice cream. Specifically a different flavor of Cornetto - a tasty frozen treat famous in the UK (the equivalent of our Good Humor King Cone) - that represents the theme of each film (red strawberry for zombie gore, blue original for police action, mint choc-chip for alien invasion). You can catch the trilogy, including the opening of THE WORLD’S END at the Alamo Drafthouse on August 22nd.
It all started with SHAUN OF THE DEAD, a hilarious parody of zombie films starring Simon Pegg as the Man Least Likely to Be a Badass. After most of his friends and neighbors turn into brain-eating monsters, Shaun (Pegg) fights for survival with his housemate Ed (Nick Frost), all while attempting to reunite with his ex-girlfriend, Liz (Kate Ashfield).
The brilliance continues with HOT FUZZ, a fantastically funny buddy cop satire which follows a straight-laced officer (Pegg) forced to work in a crime-free village alongside his bumbling partner (Frost). When a string of brutal murders occurs, the duo relies on inspiration from Hollywood blockbusters to turn into the ultimate pair of tough guys.
The trilogy comes to an epic conclusion with THE WORLD’S END, in which a group of chilldhood chums reunites to complete the pub crawl they started twenty years earlier. Their lives, along with their friendships, have changed dramatically since their teenage days, but their differences cease to matter when they’re presented with the challenge of not only drinking their way through twelve pubs but of saving the entire planet. Filled with the uproarious humor and madcap adventures we’ve come to expect from Wright, THE WORLD’S END insures that this trilogy will go out with a bang.
