Edgar Wright’s Top 50 Tracks Of 2015
It was a great year for music and while there's a lot I still have to listen to, these are the songs that were on heaviest rotation in my brain this year. (NB. Only one song per artist! Was tough to pick!)

See A Fistful Of Fingers on a big screen in London & Los Angeles
Next month it's the 20th anniversary of 'A Fistful Of Fingers', my debut 16mm teen western that I made at the tender age of 20 years old. I'm not going to say it's good as 'Citizen Kane' but it is a hell of a lot sillier. It's showing again at the very same cinema in London that it opened in, the legendary Prince Charles Cinema on November 24th. In the same week (November 21st) it's also showing for the FIRST TIME ever at the Cinefamily in Los Angeles, making that screening a genuine US PREMIERE - 20 years after the fact. Check out ...

‘A Fistful Of Fingers’ 20th Anniversary Screening - Prince Charles Cinema, London 24/11/15
On Friday the 24th of November, filmgoers wrapped up tight and lined the cold streets of Leicester Square to see a new and exciting, Great British action film. It would go on to make 350 million dollars worldwide. But enough about ‘Goldeneye’. Just around the corner from the Odeon Leicester Square you could have found a 21 year old me nervously introducing my debut feature that very night at the Prince Charles Cinema. My movie, shot on 16mm and 78 minutes in length, was ‘A Fistful Of Fingers’. At the time I was pretty broke and could barely afford my ...
Remembering Wes Craven
I was most saddened to learn of the passing of Wes Craven today. I was a big fan of his films and he was an extremely smart and kind gentleman whom I didn't get to know in person as well as I'd like. Like many film fans who grew up in the 70's and early 80's, Wes Craven's name became synonymous to me with cutting edge horror. When I grew up in a VHS less house, I really could only dream of the horrors behind the forbidding posters or video box art of movies like 'The Last House On The Left', ...

‘Shaun of the Dead’ Photo-a-day / Shoot Day 42 / June 28th, 2003
The Winchester shoot was a tough one and definitely the trickiest part of the 'Shaun' shoot. It's funny sometimes how the shoot starts to mirror the movie, as the stand off section and Barbara's big death scene were easily the most intense and difficult stretches of the shoot. I remember not being in a great mood during this sequence and perhaps that is why dark clouds gather over the movie in this act. Maybe that even worked for the movie. Every good zombie film has to have a bummer section. It was especially tough for the zombies stuck outside who had ...

So for it’s 20th anniversary, Cinefamily will host a US premiere! 11/21 - MIDNITE $14/free for members “Loaded with unashamedly sophomoric humor, but fired with a kind of early Richard Lester-esque elan that doesn’t run out of gas, A Fistful... Edgar’s Top 40 Favourite Songs Of 2014
As always I make my somewhat OCD end of the year playlist the easy way, by ranking them by play count on iTunes. Coming up then is a very accurate list of the songs that I have played the most in 2014 AD. First, here are my albums that have got me through this year… - IT’S ALBUM TIME by TODD TERJE - ST. VINCENT by ST. VINCENT - THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK) -... [Read more]

Remembering Billie Whitelaw
‘Hot Fuzz’ was Billie Whitelaw’s final film. She told me it would be in the summer of 2006, on her final day of the shoot. When she walked into the Market Place in Wells, Somerset to film her part of the climatic action, she greeted me and we hugged. I was very fond of her and felt like her long lost nephew sometimes. That morning, she breezily said “This is it, this is my... [Read more]

Edgar Wright - Assorted Music Videos 2002-2005
I directed a few music videos between ‘A Fistful Of Fingers’ in 1995 and ‘Spaced’ in 1999. There were three for a band called ‘Ruth’ that I can’t seem to find online. And another one for The High Llamas for ‘Nomads’ that I directed when I was 22 and didn’t really know what the hell I was doing. After ‘Spaced’ was finished in 2001,... [Read more]
