April 15 of 2010 is a Thursday, don’t movies tend to release on fridays…. this mystery is truly puzzling hopefully we get more news at comic con, seeing as this is a movie based off of a comic
The date might just be based around whatever season it is supposed to be at that point in the film.
The seasons seem to feature quite heavily in the books.

Movies are predominantly released during the weekend to take advantage of the fact that everyone is off work with nothing to do. But if they can score money on a Thursday, go right ahead.
