Video Archives: Shaun of the Dead - UK Trailer (2004)

18

Here’s a trailer for a little film I made with Mr. Pegg in sunny North London* in the summer of 2003.

This is the UK trailer which uses the Ash track Orpheus and not the US trailer which used L7’s Pretend That We’re Dead (A selection I hated with a passion. Still makes me moan whenever I see it.)

(*Most of it was in North London - save the Winchester exterior in…uh…sunny Millwall)

    A little movie? Hehehe…
Man, this is the greatest zombie movie ever!!!

I just saw it again yesterday with some friends who had never before heard of Shaun of the Dead. Everybody loved it!!! All of them laughed and even got scared some times.

The US trailer… Well, to see it is an awful way to spoil several key scenes. Not to mention the music selection can’t stand a chance against the tracks you guys used.

If you hated whatever that song is you put into the US trailer so much, why did you use it? Also, how are trailers cut differently for different regions? Do you give us Americans more exploding stuff and penis jokes?

Really should’ve watched that before commenting earlier. But I just realized, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen that particular trailer. I’d remember “The Gonk” at the end, I think. And completely daft question, but…that is Simon doing the voiceover, right?

    • Edgar Wright says:

      Peter Serafinowicz doing the voiceover!

      • jon says:

crikey it sounded like simon attempting to put on a grumbley voice in a strange imitation of the voiceover man from what seems like every other trailer…no offence to peter serafinowicz….don’t hink his other impressions would’ve suited…well certainly not Wogan..although that would’ve definately defined it as British haha

      • Slick says:

Of COURSE! I still can’t believe that’s him doing the voice in the video game at the beginning of SHAUN. It’s almost creepy it’s so uncanny. The man’s gifted.

L7…blecch. And Millwall’s only sunny if you’re wearing blue and white!

I remember when I first heard the news that the Spaced boys were making a movie I about fell off my rocker. I know you hear this a lot but I’ll say it any way “Shaun of the Dead is an amazing movie definitely my favorite”.

Nice, I’ve never seen the UK trailer. On a related note, “The Gonk” is quite possibly one of the catchiest songs known to man, and I would like to thank you for introducing it to me. My friends and family, however, would like to strangle you for the exact same reason.

    Buh-dum-bum-bum, buh-dum-bum-bum, buh-dum-bum-buh-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh-dum!

I saw this movie about a month or so back on Comedy Central here in FL & I was laughing at just about every scene. :D Great movie.

I loved all whip pans you used. Totally looking forward to seeing that in SP. ^.^

L7’s involvement in cinema should begin and end with their appearance in Serial Mom.

Sweet :D I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trailer or anything until I saw this on DVD with a friend. It was my first zombie movie. Aaaah the days of ignorance :P I don’t miss em.

  12. BenjaminReid says:

I think this trailer catches the essence of the film much better than that of the American trailer.

  13. Cynthia says:

I definitely like this trailer better than the US version…but the US version got me interested and into the theater, so it didn’t suck completely. ;)

  14. S-p-e-n-c-e-r says:

That is like a gabillion times more awesome then the American trailer.
